How to get a canker sore to go away?

skierbreezer asked:

I’ve had this canker sore for literally almost two and a half months and it will not go away! What do I do?
If it makes a difference, there’s no pain at all involved, it’s just an annoying water blister-like bump on the inside of my mouth.

Anbesol works best for me. But if you’ve had it this long and Anbesol doesn’t work you need to see a doctor.

It may not be a standard canker sore. You should go see a physician or dentist.

Canker sores are called apthous ulcers and should only last a few weeks. Since this has lasted longer and is causing you distress, you will need to go see a doctor.

I would likely have the dentist look at that canker sore. Perhaps you are biting the inner portion of your cheek. It may be a lesion that should be seen by pathology. Your dentist can remove this fairly easily. He might just have you try some kenalog in Orabase to soothe and shrink away the sore. If you smoke, please have this evaluated. It’s the white sores in the mouth we worry about the most.
