   There is a gel-type product called Kankaid that you can purchase at any store….does not taste good, but works to relieve the pain and help to heal….I also put salt directly on the sore….hurts like hell for a few minutes, but really reduces the healing time.

   If it is on the outside of your mouth, it is a cold sore and you should use a product like Abreva or Releev…also available over the counter but are rather expensive ($11-$17 for a very small tube)
