Extremely painful Canker Sore on the back of my throat?

I get canker sores every so often, but usually on my lips or cheeks.
I got an extremely painful canker sore on the back of my throat, right above my right tonsil. It hurts when I do almost everything, but it’s very bad when I swallow food or drinks.
Is there anything to alleviate the pain and make my sore go away?

Salt water gargle should help but a visit to doctor would be a good idea as you do not want a large infection and your windpipe closing. Take care.
