Do I have a canker sore?

Giuliana asked:

Inside my mouth, theres some sort of horizontal cut thats about 1/2 a centimeter long… is this a cold sore? I thought they were only circular. Its kind of whitish-yellowish around the opening of the cut…

It also kills me because its right around the area where the metal of my retainer is, so when i speak or make facial espressions i feel a surge of pain just there. but i know that my retainers not the cause because ive never had something like this before.

What is this? How can I treat it?

you wear a retainer and this is where the sore is? sounds like a canker sore to me. i heard that you can gargle with salt water to make them go away but i don’t know. maybe you should put some wax on your retainer so it doesnt rub against your mouth

Try Anbesol. It will dry it up very quickly. It sounds like a cut that got infected.
