I read that if you put salt on it it hurts then it goes away in like 10 minutes. can you really do that? I’m just makeing sure it won’t do any damage.

The first time I ever got a canker sore was when I got braces. Every time I went to the dentist to have my braces tighten, I would get a canker sore the days after. I was so scared the first time, I got checked, and the results came out negative. I didn’t have either herpes simplex which is the type most people have or the genital type. I’ve haven’t had braces in 4 years, and coincidentally, I haven’t had a canker sore in 4 years. I went to the dentist last week, and she told me I needed some fillings, I got the fillings. Two days ago I began getting this burning sensation, and yesterday, it happened. I have a canker sore right next to the tooth I had work done. Wikipedia says the physical trauma from dentistry can lead to canker sores. I’ve explained all this to my GF, but she still acts like I have some sort of sexually transmitted disease. What can I do?

I have a canker sore on my side gums. My toothpaste has SLS in it and until I can get to the store to find some toothpaste without SLS, what can I use to brush my teeth with? I usually brush before bed and when I get up. Would using the warm water and baking soda solution I’m using for my sore help clean my teeth?

I got a canker sore on the inside of my bottom lip three weeks ago. It got really bad and spread over the whole bottom of my lip. It has taken a really long time to heal, mainly because it hasn’t been able to stay dry with my tongue being right there, and it being on the inside of my mouth. You can see some of the canker sore on the outside of my lip but you have to look very closely.

The white caps have formed, but they are taking FOREVER to fall off. Is there anything that can expedite that process?

As an FYI, I have used EVERYTHING, salt water gargles, liquid benedryl rinses, apple cider vinegar, milk of magnesia, hydrogen peroxide, I’m taking vitamin C and Lysine, drinking water, and everything else in between. If it is one of these things that can help speed up the final healing process, can you tell me which it is?
