ok usually i use Zilactin B - which coats the canker sore as well as numbs it. but this time, the sore is on the back of my throat, and right by my gag refelx. i tried the other morning to use it and sat gagging for like 10 minutes. ive been rinsing my mouth with salt water, but i’d have to do it like every 20 minutes. is there any other ways, that you guys know, would kill the pain?

i might have a canker sore in my mouth by my tonsils. it is really sore and i think another one is coming in a little above it. it is really red around it and it is swollen a little bit. i have never had a canker sore before in my life i am only 17. it hurts a lot espcially to eat stuff. i also have swollen lymph nodes in my neck because i have a sore throat. and my ear hurts on and off.

The first time I ever got a canker sore was when I got braces. Every time I went to the dentist to have my braces tighten, I would get a canker sore the days after. I was so scared the first time, I got checked, and the results came out negative. I didn’t have either herpes simplex which is the type most people have or the genital type. I’ve haven’t had braces in 4 years, and coincidentally, I haven’t had a canker sore in 4 years. I went to the dentist last week, and she told me I needed some fillings, I got the fillings. Two days ago I began getting this burning sensation, and yesterday, it happened. I have a canker sore right next to the tooth I had work done. Wikipedia says the physical trauma from dentistry can lead to canker sores. I’ve explained all this to my GF, but she still acts like I have some sort of sexually transmitted disease. What can I do?

It seems to me that they’re not viral or bacterial, IOW they’re not contagious. And a canker sore is on the inside of your mouth and can be triggered by a lot of things, including acidic food.

It’s definitely not herpes.

I’m thinking it’s safe. Anybody else have an opinion on this? Thanks.
