Canker sore and swollen gums with braces?

Under my lower left canine the one right before the first molar is like I think a canker sore. My gums only between the canine and the one over to the right (not molar) is kind of swollen I guess and it goes up about half way up the tooth. None of my other teeth are like this and the gum on that part is like an upside down v. Only the canker sore hurts. What can I do to heal it and make the swelling go down?
